Installing Veeam Agent Free
The installation process for Veeam Agent is straightforward and includes the following steps:
Step 1: Agree to the License Agreement
First, agree to the terms of the license agreement by checking the box and clicking the “Install” button.
Step 2: Configure the Backup Drive
In the next step, you will be prompted to connect an external drive that will be used for backups. This is optional: you can configure it later or use an internal drive (e.g., a second hard drive). If you choose to skip this step, select “Skip this, I will configure backup later” and click “Next”.
Step 3: Complete the Installation
After completing the installation, a window will appear indicating that the installation was successful. Creating a Veeam Recovery Disk
You can create a recovery disk immediately after installation or later by launching “Create Recovery Media” from the Start menu.

– The recovery disk also contains useful utilities, such as administrator password reset, command prompt, bootloader recovery, and other system recovery tools.
Steps to Create a Recovery Disk:
1. Choose the type of recovery disk — CD/DVD, USB drive, or ISO image. If you do not have connected flash drives or an optical drive, only an ISO image will be available.
2. By default, the settings include network connection and current computer driver configurations. You can also add additional folders with drivers.
3. Click “Next” and select the folder to save the ISO image (or another drive).
4. Click “Create” and wait for the recovery disk creation process to complete.
Configuring Backup in Veeam Agent
After installing the application, you need to configure the backup:
Step 1: Launch the Application
Launch Veeam Agent and select “Configure Backup” in the main window.
Step 2: Choose the Type of Backup
In the next window, the following options are available:
– Entire Computer: create a backup of the entire computer (save to an external or network drive).
– Volume Level Backup: backup individual disk partitions.
– File Level Backup: create backups of individual files and folders.

Click “Advanced” to set the frequency of full backups (e.g., Active full backup, which will run on the specified day) and choose the compression level or enable encryption for the backups.
Step 5: Configure the Backup Schedule
In the next step, set the frequency of backup creation. By default, backups are created daily at 0:30 if the computer is on. You can set backups to be created when Windows is locked, when logging off, or when an external drive is connected.
Step 6: Create the First Backup
After applying the settings, click “Backup Now” to create the first backup. The process may take some time depending on the amount of data.
Restoring from a Backup
The following restoration options are available:
– Volume Level Restore: for restoring non-system partitions.
– File Level Restore: for restoring individual files.
– Recovery Media Boot: for restoring system partitions or the entire system.
Volume Level Restore
By launching Volume Level Restore, specify the backup storage location and select the restoration point. Then choose the partitions to restore. If system partitions are selected, restoration is only possible using the recovery disk.
File Level Restore
If you need to restore individual files, launch File Level Restore and select the restoration point. The Backup Browser will open, where you can select files and click “Restore”. For folders, you can choose the Overwrite mode or Keep (retain both versions).
Restoring the System Using Recovery Media
To restore system partitions, you need to boot from the Veeam Recovery Media disk or flash drive. In the recovery menu, select Bare Metal Recovery to restore system partitions. Additionally, built-in tools such as the command prompt, password reset, and memory diagnostics are available.
When booting, press any key when the message “press any key to boot from cd or dvd” appears. This will open the recovery menu.
1. Bare Metal Recovery — using backups from Veeam Agent for Windows. It works the same as restoring partitions in Volume Level Restore but allows restoring system partitions of the disk (if necessary, if the application does not automatically detect the location, specify the backup folder on the “Backup Location” page).
